When We Learn to Trust…
When we learn to trust, we begin walking a path that not everyone chooses.
A path where we pause more often because something hurts, something feels uncomfortable, something is not working.
Sometimes the body refuses to carry on. Sometimes the heart does.
And yet… beneath each of these moments, trust slowly begins to emerge.
Today, a question came to me:
What does trust actually mean?
I have told myself so many times, “I trust that everything will be all right,”
only to take control again moments later, without even realising it.
I planned.
I protected myself.
I tried to stay one step ahead of life.
And now… I am standing at a crossroads between two worlds.
Not yet in the new one, but no longer in the old.
I woke up today and felt a deep sense of gratitude for the fact that… I do not have a job.
Does that sound strange?
It does to me too.
Only after two months without work — and almost three months at home — did I finally see clearly just how exhausted I had been.
How much my body had hurt.
How I had been living inside a cycle that was slowly consuming me:
the separation, work, the house, responsibilities, pressure, and the belief that “I have to, because there is no other way.”
Today, I know there is another way.
And this gratitude, this peace, this awareness of how much harm I had been causing myself out of habit — this is trust.
And suddenly, I remembered the first time I truly experienced it.
Two years ago, when I set off on the Camino.
Unprepared.
Without a plan.
Alone, with a backpack.
Into the mountains, in a country I did not know.
And yet, I felt calmer than ever before in my life.
Only now can I see that the signs I encountered each day were beautiful… but they were not the most important part.
The greatest lesson, and the greatest blessing, was trust.
Real trust.
The kind that comes from within.
The kind that needs neither control nor a plan.
The kind that reveals itself as… peace.
That quiet certainty that this is exactly where I am meant to go.
And today, I feel exactly the same.
Today’s affirmation:
“Trust is born in stillness. I allow life to guide me where I am meant to go.”
