A Year of Endings and Beginnings — On the Journey Between What Ended and What Is Beginning

2025 is coming to an end.
Everyone is reflecting on the year, so I will too.
Without a doubt, it was a very difficult and painful year, but also a liberating one, filled with lessons.
Exactly a year ago, I made an agreement with myself that the first thing I would do for myself in 2025 would be to walk away from what had not served me for years — from the relationship, and therefore from the house as well.
I was planning New Year’s Eve knowing it would be the last one I would spend in this house and in this relationship. I felt calm, at peace with myself, and certain that this time I would truly manage to leave.
At the beginning of February, I said that we were separating and showed him the valuation of the house. This time, I was prepared. I knew that once he saw the amount, he would stop insisting that we continue something that had long become exhausting for both of us. That he would finally admit he was not happy here. He had tried, but he could not.
We put the house up for sale. It sold… almost. Just before the transaction was completed, the buyer pulled out.
A year has passed, and I am still here.
The house is back on the market.
And I will spend another New Year’s Eve in this house, believing that this time it really will be my final year here. With humility for all those years, and for the fact that I was able to make this house exactly as I wanted it to be.
And with gratitude, because despite everything, it was my dream home.
Ten months — and they said it would sell quickly.
During that time, I managed to fall more than once and rise again.
I learned to set boundaries.
I left the corporate world.
I started writing a blog.
I put my health first.
I worked through one lesson after another.
I stepped outside my comfort zone many times.
And although, technically, I am “without a job”, although I am still suspended somewhere in between, I feel calm. I know the house will go where it is meant to go, at the time that is right.
Of course, I would rather be somewhere else already — but I am not there yet.
Did it hurt? Yes, more than once.
But then the calm returned again. The kind that comes back more and more often.
That feeling that I am exactly where I am meant to be, and that step by step I am doing everything I can to reach the place where my dreams are already waiting for me…

Today’s affirmation:

“I allow what is meant to come to an end to do so at the right time.
I trust my journey, even when it takes longer than I had planned.
I return to myself.
Step by step.
With courage and gentleness.”
