A Bridge Between Worlds — When the Crossing Feels Too Long
Before you read this post, I would like to invite you to my very first text on this blog, also titled “A Bridge Between Worlds.” I wrote it in June last year, when the blog was just beginning, when I was starting to discover myself and learn who “Simply Me” truly was.
It was a moment of awakening to myself – the first time I looked into the mirror without turning away.
Today, I am in a different place. Still on the journey, still somewhere in between, but with a deeper awareness of what is true within me. That first text marked the beginning of this story. This one shows what the journey feels like from the inside now.
⸻
For months, I have been balancing between what was, what is, and what I am still waiting for.
For more than a year, consistently and step by step, I have been taking action to change my life. I follow the voice of my heart and my intuition, but I also put a great deal of effort into staying afloat while facing things I cannot physically control, despite all the changes I have made: leaving the corporate world, ending a relationship that no longer served me, changing habits and stepping away from environments that were pulling me down.
It took a great deal of work to leave behind the victim mindset in which I had been trapped for years, without even realising it. But without doing that, nothing else could have changed.
And although so much has already happened – I am slowly setting boundaries, listening to myself, writing, sharing what I create because that is what my heart is asking me to do, and continuing to take steps so that the blog can grow alongside me – this is where I arrive at today’s moment.
Because you can make progress. You can change. You can build something of your own…
and still reach the limits of your inner endurance.
And today, I think I touched that place.
Most of the time, I manage to stay positive. To notice my emotions, move through them, and let them go.
But today… something broke.
In all this balancing, I think that for the first time, the rational part of me – the grounded, practical part – gave up.
And yet I had woken up feeling grateful. Rested. Truly rested for the first time in a long while. I had even written an affirmation about trusting that the Universe supports me.
And then there was one meeting. The one that was supposed to help me survive this “in-between” on a practical and physical level.
Something happened inside me that felt beyond my control.
Even before the meeting properly began, I could feel the tears rising. It was about temporary work – a bridge that was meant to help me avoid returning to the corporate world I had left in order to save myself from burnout.
And yet something in me felt that this was another step back toward survival mode. The moment I heard that the job was waiting for me and that the decision was mine… something broke.
I agreed. I barely made it to the end of the meeting. Then I got into the car and began to cry, as though I had no control over it.
Then came the anger. The frustration. The grief.
Because I do not want this.
I do not want to pretend that this is okay.
That I can spend the next few months still living “in between.”
That I must keep doing something that allows me only to survive in survival mode.
That I no longer have the strength to repeat that same mantra to myself.
That I am ready to leave this damned “in-between” behind.
That this bridge has become too long.
A few hours later, I am writing these words.
Do I feel lighter? A little.
Do I feel as though I am moving backwards? No.
But for the first time, I have admitted to myself:
I do not want to live this way anymore. I do not want to live in survival mode.
Is that strength or weakness?
I honestly do not know.
Perhaps it is both.
What I do know is that this was the moment when my mantra – “it is only temporary” – stopped working.
In the most human, ordinary way, I am tired.
But I can also see everything I have already achieved. I write. I publish. I remain true to myself…
More and more, I feel like a blogger. Saying that out loud still pushes me far beyond my comfort zone, but it is also proof of how much inner work I have already done.
I am learning to be this version of myself – no longer shrinking, no longer doing only what is expected, but speaking openly about what I feel.
Even when those feelings are not easy.
It is not always beautiful.
But it is real.
Today’s affirmation:
“I allow myself to be honest about where I am.
I do not have to pretend to be strong in order to be strong.”
