A Bridge Between Worlds:
Simply Me — The Woman I Am Only Beginning to Discover
Simply Me is joyful, empathetic, and assertive too.
She went through a great deal before she understood that she had never truly taken care of herself. She had never stopped to think about who she was or what she liked. She did not know that she should care for herself in the same way she cared for others.
She did not realise that if she did not give herself love, attention, and time — if she kept giving all of herself away to others — no one else would be able to provide those things for her.
No one had ever told her that giving must begin with yourself.
So she gave herself to everyone, until there was almost nothing left of her.
She is honest and sensitive.
She loves the sun and the ocean, which is why she will one day live in Spain. In her heart, she is already partly there.
She appreciates every day and every moment.
Her morning rituals are very important to her.
She pauses to breathe.
She has realised how incredibly fortunate she is.
Because every time she fell — sometimes painfully, and unfortunately sometimes because of her own choices — it ended only in a fall.
She was always given the strength to rise again.
And today, she is learning how to draw lessons from those moments.
She has understood what a gift it is to see her experiences as lessons rather than failures.
She is also much calmer now.
She is beginning to believe in her own strength and recognise her worth.
There are days when she no longer diminishes herself at every step…
when she looks in the mirror with pride.
And although we are only just beginning to get to know one another, and she still lives in England, we are spending more and more time together.
We are learning together — and sometimes, I feel, from one another — how to simply be ourselves.
